Flower Girls- Home Wedding
The flower girl walking down the aisle to scatter the bride’s path with flower petals is a charming moment in any wedding. Historically, the flower girl led the bride in as a symbol of innocence, dating back from the times when the brides themselves were very young. In classical Roman and Greek times, the flower girl would scatter herbs and grains to beckon fertility for the new union. Sheaths of wheat were carried in the midevil procession during medieval times. In some cultures only female children attended to the bride, not her adult friends and relatives, so multiple flower girls were not uncommon. Today the classic image of a flower girl is of a young girl in white carrying a bouquet or a basket of flower petals. It is a beautiful and time honored tradition that will bring charm to your wedding.
